A Billboard, a Date, and a Rumor Reignited

Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham are sparking speculation after a cryptic billboard appeared this week on Los Angeles’ Sunset Boulevard. The striking image shows the original Buckingham Nicks album cover—famously featuring a topless Nicks and Buckingham—alongside their names and the date September 19. The billboard’s placement near Sound City Studios, where the duo recorded the album in 1973, appears to be a deliberate nod to the album’s roots.

Fans quickly connected the dots, especially after both artists posted near-identical messages on Instagram just days before the billboard appeared. The posts quoted matching lyrics from the song “Frozen Love”, a standout track from Buckingham Nicks.

Nicks wrote: “And if you go forward…”

Buckingham followed with: “I’ll meet you there”

The coordinated messages have reignited rumors of a possible reunion—or at the very least, the long-awaited re-release of their debut album as a duo.

A Hidden Webpage and a Lost Album’s Revival

Although neither Nicks nor Buckingham has publicly confirmed anything, eagle-eyed fans noticed a now-deleted page for Buckingham Nicks briefly appeared on Rhino Records’ website over the weekend. While the cover image was removed, the page URL remained active, hinting that an announcement could be imminent.

Originally released in 1973, Buckingham Nicks was the pair’s only album as a duo before joining Fleetwood Mac in 1975. Despite gaining a cult following over the decades, the album has never been officially reissued—not on digital platforms, not on streaming services, and not on vinyl. For years, fans have relied on unofficial bootlegs to keep the music alive.

If the album does get an official re-release, many hope it could come with bonus content, such as unreleased demos, alternate takes, or even an early version of “Rhiannon,” which later became a Fleetwood Mac classic.

Reunion Hopes and Fleetwood Mac’s Lingering Legacy

With Buckingham Nicks possibly making a comeback, fans are naturally wondering: could this lead to a tour or even a full Fleetwood Mac reunion?

That hope, however, may be optimistic. Stevie Nicks has previously stated that Fleetwood Mac would not continue without Christine McVie, who passed away in 2022. Speaking to Rolling Stone, Nicks said the last time she spoke to Buckingham was at McVie’s memorial.

“The only time I’ve spoken to Lindsey was there, for about three minutes,” she said. “I dealt with Lindsey for as long as I could. You could not say that I did not give him more than 300 million chances.”

Still, the buzz comes on the heels of Fleetwood Mac’s 50th anniversary, which was marked earlier this month. Mick Fleetwood took to Instagram to honor the occasion, writing:

“It’s magic then, it’s magic now. What a thrill, what a thrill.”

For now, Rhino Records has declined to comment, and no formal announcement has been made. But all signs point to September 19 as the key date—when fans may finally get the reissue they’ve waited decades for.
